German parliament debates controversial Autobahn funding reform

Germany’s parliament has debated a government bill to change how the federal motorway company is funded. From 2027, Autobahn GmbH is set to be allowed to borrow and issue bonds. The borrowed funds would be restricted to investment and planning services. Germany’s Federal Court of Auditors says the bill does not set a limit on how much the company may borrow.
