Poseck raises possible ban on further “Gen Z” protests after riots

Rioting followed the weekend’s “Gen Z” protests, particularly in Frankfurt. Hesse’s interior minister Roman Poseck (CDU) questioned whether further demonstrations on 20 November could go ahead.

A ban must be a last resort, and authorities must consider less restrictive measures. They must give concrete reasons why disorder and violence are likely at the specific demonstration. Simply citing the earlier rioting would probably not suffice.
