Chemnitz finance mayor puts forward confidential list of 20 measures for 2027/28

Chemnitz finance mayor Ralph Burghart has put forward a confidential list of 20 measures for the 2027/28 budget. The Oberrabenstein wildlife park is again at risk of closure, while the natural history museum is slated for an additional closing day.

On paper, the measures could bring about €50 million in savings and additional revenue from 2027 to 2031. The list has already failed to win support from the council groups in its current form. The current medium-term financial plan projects a deficit of more than €300 million over the next two years.
