Police union concerned about possible AfD government in Saxony-Anhalt

The police union GdP is concerned about a possible AfD government in Saxony-Anhalt. Its chairman Jochen Kopelke warned that policing could then follow party priorities rather than the public’s needs.

The AfD’s state election manifesto proposes a voluntary citizens’ guard. Hamburg’s interior minister Andy Grote stressed that police officers’ oath binds them to the constitution, not to political power.
