Monopolies Commission criticises planned postage increase

Deutsche Post plans to raise domestic standard letter postage by 20 cents to €1.15 at the turn of the year. Monopolies Commission chairman Tomaso Duso says the Bundesnetzagentur regulator accepts too many of the company's costs, resulting in excessive postage rates. The commission recommends closer scrutiny and excluding some costs from the calculation.

Final approval of postage rates for 2027 and 2028 is still pending.
