IG Metall calls for wider warning strikes

IG Metall is calling for warning strikes on Tuesday at around 240 plants in North Rhine-Westphalia’s metal and electrical industry. The call includes the Düsseldorf Mercedes plant and Ford’s Cologne site.

The union demands 5% more pay under a 12-month agreement. Employers offer an initial one-off payment followed by a 1.3% pay rise under a 26-month agreement.

According to IG Metall, the third negotiating round is planned for 9 November.
