Court to hear challenges to Leipzig/Halle Airport expansion

The Higher Administrative Court in Bautzen begins hearing challenges to the planned expansion of Leipzig/Halle Airport on Tuesday. Ten plaintiffs want to stop the plans, warning of more night flights and noise.

The lawsuits challenge the planning approval issued by Saxony’s regional authority in September 2024. The DHL apron is to be expanded by 39 hectares to increase capacity and accommodate larger aircraft.
