Boxberg wins contracts for two gas-fired generating units

Germany’s Federal Network Agency awarded Boxberg contracts on Tuesday for two gas-fired generating units, each with a gross capacity of 560 megawatts. The planned plants at LEAG’s lignite power site are intended to allow later conversion to hydrogen.

According to Boxberg’s mayor, plans call for converting Werk III from 2030 and generating electricity with natural gas from 2031.
