Rhein-Erft-Kreis police launch checks after rise in vehicle-related theft

Police in Rhein-Erft-Kreis have launched another strategic stop-and-check operation. More than 380 completed or attempted property offences involving vehicles or their contents were reported districtwide in September and October.

The measure allows checks on people and vehicles without specific initial suspicion within defined times and areas. During the opening operation, from 7 p.m. on October 30 to 3 a.m. on October 31, officers checked more than 100 vehicles and people.
