Eberle Spezialitäten recalls four soft cheese varieties over Listeria

Swiss cheesemaker Eberle Spezialitäten is recalling four soft cheese varieties contaminated with Listeria. The affected Mini Brie flavours are nut, chive, chilli and truffle. They were sold through retailers in Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony, distributor Heiderbeck said.

Infections can be particularly dangerous for pregnant women, older people and those with weakened immune systems. The bacteria can cause blood poisoning and inflammation of the brain and meninges.
